A very pretty oak and mahogany long-case clock by William Kirk of Nottingham with a rare scene to the arch of a hot air balloon, the eight day movement striking the hour on a bell, the 13" dial depicting the flight of a balloon over the city, the case inlaid with marquetry shells to the base and door, with further inlays of satinwood banded with palmwood and further quadrants marquetry to the door corners, the hood with Corinthian capitals and original finial. William Kirk is listed as working in Nottingham at 1815. Both the case and movement fully restored.
